As we near the end of 2020 I am exhausted. I don’t think I need to tell anyone why specifically, we’ve all gone through this year together….or have we? There is Covid-19 and the election, and George Floyd. We have all watched and listened and lived these events. Processed them alone or with others, through texting, twitter, podcasts. “We” are a collective: Americans, or right wingers/left wingers, or consumers of media, believers and disbelievers or just humans. We are everyday seemingly more connected than ever to everyone else on this planet. I however often tend to feel more alone in this ever confusing world of ours. This is I suppose the fractured collective I named this group of sculptures after. All together but separate, broken, cut, glued back together. These nine works were all made in 2020, a few of them were started years before and were remade or added to this year. As I watched and listened to the world around me they were made, they grew, failed, evolved. They are self-portraits, still lives, jokes, pretty, useless, practical, and markers of time. I hope you like them.
